Over $30,000 was awarded to local organizations to provide the greater South Haven area with quality community programs. We look forward to seeing the grants at work. Grant Recipients include Al-Van Humane Society, Benton Harbor Boys & Girls Club, City of South Haven, Foundry Hall, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, HASH in partnership with South Haven Sesquicentennial, Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum, Michigan Maritime Museum, Scott Club, South Haven Boating Foundation, South Haven Center for the Arts, South Haven Kids Collaboration, South Haven Performance Series and the VanBuren United Civic Organization. In addition, GSHACF’s youth counterpart, YAC, will grant $4,000 to five organizations; Books and Songs by the Beach, Gender and Sexual Alliance, Baseline Middle School, Junior Achievement of SW Michigan and the Youth Development Company. The organization has also committed to donating up to an additional $25,000 via a community dollar for dollar match donation drive supporting the City of South Haven’s Splash Pad initiative.
This year’s grant money will help fund community staples such as the Riverfront Concert Series, Jazz Fest, Foundry Hall performances, discounted pet neutering, Michigan Maritime Museum exhibits and the Liberty Hyde Bailey annual conference and will pilot two new initiatives; the South Haven Kids Collaborative and Scott Club Concert Series. “We received a record number of grant applications this year and tough decisions had to be made. We believe the grants selected will have the greatest impact on the community and that is always our goal” said Alan Silverman of the GSHACF grant committee.
Thank you again to our donors. We couldn’t do it without your support!
