An unrestricted fund that allow grants to flow to a broad spectrum of community service encompassing cultural needs, youth programs and economic development in the greater South Haven area.

The SHCF ‘Immediate Needs Fund’ provides quick access to funding for Foundation projects, administration and emergency grant requests.
We Care Community Resource Center Endowment

Friends of South Haven Skate Park Endowment
A Field of Interest fund, developed to insure the long term care of the Communities Skate board park that provides activities for our communities’ youth. Friends of Pilgrim Haven – Porter Legacy Dunes Natural Area Endowment
A Field of Interest fund designed for the care and maintenance of this beautiful 24 acre lakeside park of 18th Ave and 77th Street and the adjoining 48-acre Porter Legacy Dunes Natural Area. There is also a building fund to assist in the further development of the park which was a turn of the century United Church of Christ and camp fire girls’ camp. For more information, visit swmlc.org
South Haven Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Provides annual scholarships to those graduating South Haven High School students who have shown excellence in academics and in some way have helped make South Haven a better place to live, play and work.
Stanley Johnston Memorial Park Endowment
Developed by Stanley Johnson’s children and grandchildren as well as his many friends. This fund was instrumental in providing a gazebo, and sitting area overlooking the Black River and grants are used for continued improvements and its care.
SHARA/SHARP Park Endowment
A donor advised fund for the eventual care of South Haven Area Recreation Park.
Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum Endowment
A designated fund to help provide funding for the museum’s programs and activities.
South Haven Public Schools Endowment
In 2014 our foundation started an Endowment Fund with the South Haven Community Foundation. If you make a donation to the endowment your gift will be added to others in the fund to grow and make a long lasting, bigger impact. Once a year the growth will be distributed as grants to our schools.
The Amy and Tom Eubanks Simon Endowment
A Field of Interest Fund in honor of Amy Eubanks, who dearly loved the city of South Haven, Lake Michigan and the piers that enable so many of our community and visitors to enjoy the lake and its lighthouse. Grants from the endowment will continue to make improvements to the north and south piers from year to year.
Blessings in a Backpack Action Fund
The “action fund” provides immediate assistance to help provide food. Blessings strives to ensure children don’t go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action.
Blessings in a Backpack Endowment
Started in August of 2012 as the South Haven Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack’ national program. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for local elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry. South Haven Area Community Foundation Youth Endowment
A Field of Interest fund, controlled by the communities Youth Advisory Board (a mini foundation by itself) made up of South Haven High School students that follow the same guidelines of their parent foundation.
H.A.S.H. Endowment
The Historical Association of South Haven now has an endowment with the foundation to help insure its future for the South Haven Community. Donations to HASH will result in future grants that will help preserve the historical past of HASH, particularly the many collections and artifacts collected since HASH’s founding in 2002. South Haven Center for the ARTS Endowment
One of the primary cultural mainstays of our community The Center for the Art’s actively promotes many youth programs for the communities artistically centered youngsters as well as the annual art fair to name a few. For more information, visit southhavenarts.org
Al-Van Endowment
Al-Van Humane Society: South Haven’s only no-kill shelter dedicated to providing food, shelter and eventually good homes for the communities “lost and abandoned” pets. For more information, visit al-van.org
Judi’s Children Fund
Judi Silverman passed away on October 8, 2020. The Silverman family have established Judi’s Children Fund in Judi’s memory to honor her work with and her love of children. Judi received her Bachelors degree in Special Education from the University of Michigan and her Masters from the University of Chicago. After many years as a teacher of children with special needs Judi joined the faculty of Western Michigan University as a mentor for special education student teachers. Judi’s children, grandchildren and Alan, her husband of 53 years, have dedicated Judi’s Children Fund, the Foundation’s first Donor Advised Fund, to better the lives of children everywhere.
The Jerry Mendelson Youth Golf Endowment
The Jerry Mendelson Youth Golf Endowment Fund was established by Jerome Mendelson, 1944 graduate of L.C. Mohr High School to introduce, teach and promote golf to local youth. To facilitate this mission, the Foundation and the Endowment trustees have partnered with The First Tee and South Haven Public Schools to provide opportunities for golf instruction to all Physical Education students at four schools within the SHPS District. The goal of the Fund is to develop youth golf instructional training and to promote citizenship, respect and character within the South Haven area. All South Haven youth are eligible to participate including those that might not ordinarily be eligible because of either physical or financial limitations.
The Richard and Mary Barden Scholarship Fund
Richard and Mary Barden were avid supporters of youth, music and the arts. Richard was an organist, pianist, band conductor and played the marimba. Mary was a teacher in the South Haven Public Schools and helped Richard organize and administer numerous programs and performances in the community. This scholarship is for South Haven Area high school graduates with music/band participation who wish to further their education in any field of study.
Calvin Scholarship
The Grace J. Calvin Scholarship was established by the estate of Grace J. Calvin in 1982. It was established to provide financial support for promising students living in the South Haven School District who plan to enroll full time in a post-secondary educational program (including college, university, vocational or technical programs).
South Haven Scott Club Fund
This endowment will help ensure preservation of the Scott Club building, a Michigan Historic Site built in 1893, and continuation of the many cultural programs provided by the organization to the local community. For more information, visit scottclub.org
South Haven Vacation Rental Community (SHVRC)
The SHVRC Fund is dedicated to enriching and supporting the community of South Haven. This is accomplished through charitable contributions, and volunteerism, with a focused involvement in supporting South Haven schools, community parks, and public beaches.
Jensen Family Scholarship
The Jensen Family Scholarship is awarded to students graduating from South Haven High School who choose to pursue a degree in engineering, construction management or a construction related trade. This scholarship recognizes the need for future professionals to design and construct the buildings, transportation, and utility infrastructure systems that support our communities.
Mark Hosley STEM Scholarship Fund
An Endowed Scholarship for South Haven High School graduates desiring to further their STEM studies in college or technical school.
