The South Haven Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), a group of South Haven High School students, want to make a difference in the lives of area youth. We work hard fundraising to continue supporting many local projects and programs, to which we have granted money.
About YAC
The South Haven Youth Advisory Committee is a standing committee of the South Haven Community Foundation Fund and takes the lead role with the supervision of the Greater South Haven Area Youth Fund. The money YAC grants is from a permanent endowment fund and the earnings are used to fund grant requests.
The Youth Advisory Committee works hand in hand with the South Haven Community Foundation Board of Directors to examine our community’s needs and shares ideas on how to make it better. The group is made up of 9-15 high school students who have an interest in the future of the community’s youth. By majority vote, the YAC reviews applications and selects new members each year to participate in order to achieve the following: periodically make needs assessments of the community; fundraising; give grants; and encourage youth volunteerism.
